moot == !(moot)

so, what's up with the definition of "moot"?

from answers.com:

1. Subject to debate; arguable: a moot question.
2.
a. Law. Without legal significance, through having been previously decided or settled.
b. Of no practical importance; irrelevant.

the first definition seems to be contrary to the second definition. i don't appreciate that.
